What is Meditation(Dhyana)?

“Dhyanam The light manah”:- Meditation is a state of mind wherein there are no subjects (sensual thoughts) is meditation. When you are not doing anything at all- bodily, mentally on no level, when all activities have stopped and you simply are just being that is meditation. You cannot practice it. You cannot do it, you only have to understand it, feel it and absorb it. During the practice of meditation you are not a doer, you are a watcher. That is a whole secret of meditation that you become the watcher.

Meditation is the keeping up of a continuous flow of God consciousness. Meditation is a growth.  Growth is always from the total; it is not an addition to you as you are. It grows out of you, out of your totality. One must grow toward meditation.


Meditation is the seventh step in the ladder of Yoga.  Meditation is called ‘Dhyana’ by yogis. Meditation is the only way to attain immortality.  The one who practices a meditation enjoy their life with joy, their world becomes joyful and harmonious. Meditation is the master key for opening the realms of eternal bliss. In the beginning, it may be tiring because the human mind will be running away from the point every time, but after a practice of some time, it will be focused in the center for the meditation and concentration. Meditation follows concentration. Meditation is a food for the soul, by doing Japa,  Kirtan and meditation you can create a  healthy diet to the soul. It is just like you require a food for the body. The food for the soul is more essential than the food for the body. So that you do prayers, Japa and meditation regularly. You must make a peace in mind to experience a meditation in the greater level.

By regular practice of meditation, it will bring you sensitivity, a great sense of belonging to the world. You will be connected with every single piece of things exists in nature. And this sensitivity will make new friendships for you with all the things in nature like with trees, with birds, with animals, with mountains, with rivers, with oceans, with stars and with even a small blade of grass. Life will be filled with enormous enjoyment and happiness.  If you meditate now or later you will come upon love, you will start to feel a great joy and love arising within you that you have never known before, a new quality of being, you will become a new person to others.


Dear reader, learn the science of self-control. Keep a steady mind by regular practice of meditation.  Select a center for yourself and fix your mind upon it. Do not change now and later. You will definitively have a divine life. Light will shine. Love will arise. A new door will open. Divine qualities will flow in you. All negative tendencies will vanish. You will enjoy perfect harmony, undisturbed happiness and permanent peace in life.
